A Detoxification Diet for Health and Weight Loss

Our air, food and water have an unprecedented diversity of chemicals, some of which are toxic to the body even in little quantities, and many of which are hard on your body’s natural detox function. As well as doing several body detox programs a year, you can preserve a trim and healthy body by nudging your normal everyday diet toward a purifying diet. In addition to providing year round body detoxification, a cleansing diet will help you maintain improved health, better energy and mood, and a healthy weight. Many people have experienced lasting weight loss with a cleansing diet. A brown rice detox diet is an excellent cleansing diet in the colder months.

The ideal way to change over to a cleansing diet that will help you lose weight and keep it off is to consume more fresh fruits and vegetables and significantly reduce your consumption of fatty foods, processed foods and sugary foods. Here are several rules for which foods to include in your cleansing diet:
2-5 pieces of fresh fruit daily. Don’t eat too many bananas or dried fruits. Dried fruits should be soaked several hours.

2 salads every day, one at lunch and another at dinner.

2 servings of Grilled chicken (not fried!), fish or tofu for your protein. Lean meat on occasion.

4 oz. of vegetable juice several times a week. Ideal vegetables are cucumber, celery, carrot, beets and parsley. If you don’t have the time or equipment to juice vegetable juice at home, buy it fresh in a sizeable quantity, part it into 2 oz servings and freeze for future use.

Sea vegetables (seaweed) daily or several times a week. Granulated dulse and kelp are convenient to use. Powdered seaweeds can be used as a salt substitute.

And, of course, drink more water. Try to increase your consumption to a gallon a day of fresh, filtered or spring water. Some of your daily gallon can include a few glasses of unsweetened herbal tea. No sweetened drinks. Sodas and bottled juices do not hydrate, they just add more material to your body.
