The Two Most Important Commandments – Love

The Two Most Important Commandments – LOVE

By: Lara Velez

Love is mentioned well over 350 times in the Bible. I’m sure God must be trying to tell us something. We will start our study with Matthew 22:37-38; And He replied to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the most important and first commandment.

I am sure that we have all heard this verse many times in our Christian lives. But, do we really get it? How do we love God? Why should we love God? Let’s explore How to love God today, and tomorrow we’ll get into why.

How Do We Love Him?

It is very simply stated by Jesus in John 14:15, If you really love me, you will keep (obey) my commands. As simple as it sounds….it seems to be a very difficult task….or is it? Well, yes and no. If we study the Word, get it into our hearts and minds; it is easier to submit to the Holy Spirit…

However, when we fill our minds with the world, i.e.,

Soap Operas – which encourage adultery, lust, impurity, fornication, lies, deceit, and many other sinful desires.

I struggled with these for years. I didn’t just watch one…not even just one channel. I would watch one channel and tape another. I was watching six different daytime dramas and several evening ones. I eventually cut back and convinced myself that was good enough. But, no, God wanted me to lay them all down. My mind had become so absorbed with this unrealistic, ungodly world. I didn’t want to let go. Of course I eventually did…not without a fight though. The enemy was on full attack mode when I decided to submit to the Lord (obey His commands). I kid you not my TV would just turn on at the precise moment, my VCR would start taping when I didn’t set it to, and the grocery store checkout…It was ugly. I didn’t give up…and now I am FREE!

Entertainment Magazines – which are filled with gossip, wrong information, slander, hurtful situations in human lives, and really none of our business anyway. These were another stronghold in my life. My favorite was In Touch…or like my husband used to call it, “in touch with the devil.” LOL. Let me tell you, I loved these things. I had to know who was cheating on whom, and what this one said about that one….I’m sure there are some of you who know exactly what I am talking about.

Guess what? God wanted these put down too. My flesh fought hard. Honestly, I still have to catch myself. Those grocery store checkout lines are filled with them…I try hard not to even look at them. I am happy to say that I no longer buy them…or even touch them.

Secular music – which is mostly provocative lyrics, self, and worldly principals.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that every non-Christian song is sinful. I’m saying be careful what goes in. It will come out. The Bible says in Galatians 6:7 that we reap what we sow. If we sow junk into our minds we will reap junk. If your searching through the stations looking for a good song to listen to…make sure it is good for your spirit not your flesh.

These examples are ones many Christian women face. You may be thinking I have gone too far…I don’t know what I’m talking about. Yes, I do. I know because the Word tells me so.

In I John 2:15 it says, Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. if anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world – the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life or stability of earthly things – these do not come from the Father, but are from the world itself. And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life abides forever.

Why Should We Love Him?

I’m sure this would seem like an obvious answer. Yet, I think it is important that we really understand the depth of the answer. Why do we or why should we love God? Well, there are more answers to this question then could be answered in a lifetime. But, I will give the best answer I can…

- HE IS INCOMPARABLE. THERE IS NONE LIKE HIM : II Samuel 7:22 says; Therefore You are great, O Lord God; for none is like You, nor is there any God besides You… No other religion has a God like ours. HE IS!

- HIS WAYS ARE PERFECT. HE IS PERFECT: Psalm 18:30 says; As for God, His way is perfect!

- HE IS OUR ROCK AND SHIELD: Psalm 18:30-31 says; …He is a shield to all those who take refuge and put their trust in Him. For who is God except the Lord? Or who is the Rock save our God? It says it right there…if we will take refuge…He will shield us. How many of us actually take refuge in Him?

- HE IS THE CREATOR OF ALL THINGS: This is covered in Genesis 1. Isaiah 40:12, 22 & 26 as well as countless other verses. What other God created the Universe?

- HE IS EVERLASTING: Habakkuk 3:6 says; He stood and measured the earth; He looked and shook the nations, and the eternal mountains were scattered and the perpetual hills bowed low. His ways are everlasting and His goings are of old.

- HE IS JUST, TRUE, MIGHTY AND SOVEREIGN: Revelation 15:3 says; …Mighty and marvelous are Your works, O Lord God the Omnipotent! Just and true are Your ways, O Sovereign of the ages. Sing that for a while and you’ll feel His presence all around you.

- HE IS MY STRENGTH AND MY SONG: When I am weak I know I can count on Him to be my Strength. Exodus 15:2 says; The Lord is my Strength and my Song….Keep reading that chapter alone for many reasons to love Him.

- HE LOVED US FIRST: I John 4:19 says; We love Him, because He first loved us.

- HE IS OMNIPOTENT (ALL-POWERFUL): Jeremiah 32:17 says; Alas, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by Your outstretched arm! There is nothing too hard for you.

- HE IS OMNIPRESENT (EVER-PRESENT): Read Psalm 139:7-12. He is always here…He is always there. You are never alone. What other “god” can say that?

- HE IS OMNISCIENCE (ALL-KNOWING): I John 3:20 says; …For He is above and greater than our consciences (our hearts), and He knows and understands everything, nothing is hidden from Him.

These aren’t even the tip of the iceberg…There is not enough time or words to tell all the reasons to love our God. He is The Great I Am, The King of Kings, The Lord of Lords, Jehovah-jireh (my Provider), Jehovah-nissi (He reigns in victory), Jehovah-shalom (my Peace), God Almighty, Heavenly Father, Abba (Father), Holy, Loving, Kind, Gentle, Patient, Worthy, Good, Gracious…..

Do you see what I mean? I really could go on forever.

There is however, another area of “Why” that I would like to talk about…

HIS GOODNESS

Oh, yes, the Lord is Good. I can think of countless situations in my life where His goodness, (manifested in compassion, mercy, and forgiveness) brought me out of very dark places. You should take some time to meditate every day on the goodness He has shown to you in your life.

No time? Yes, there is. In the shower, driving here and there, as you lay in bed, blow drying your hair, putting make up on, cooking dinner, washing dishes, get up earlier, go to bed later, and right now. We say, “we don’t have time.” Yes, we do. We should always find time to think about the goodness of God and praise His Holy Name!

The Bible has many Scriptures on the Goodness of God. I have listed a few of my favorites.

Titus 3:4-6 …when the goodness and loving-kindness of God our Savior to man appeared, He saved us, not because of any righteousness that we had done, but because of His own pity and mercy…

Psalm 31:19 Oh, how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear, revere, and worship You. Goodness which You have wrought for those who trust and take refuge in You before the sons of men!

Acts 14:17 Yet He did not neglect to leave some witness of Himself, for He did you good and showed you kindness and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with nourishment and happiness.

Psalm 145:7-9 They shall pour forth like a fountain the fame of Your great and abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of Your rightness and justice. The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and abounding in mercy and loving-kindness. The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works, the entirety of His creation.

Psalm 86:5 For You, O Lord, are good, and ready to forgive our trespasses, letting them go completely and forever; and You are abundant in mercy and loving-kindness to all those who call upon You.

And let’s not forget the Israelites in the Book of Exodus. They wandered around the desert for forty years…griping, complaining, unthankful, and unfaithful. Yet, our loving and merciful God still fed them every day, kept them safe, and even prevented their shoes from aging!

God is GOOD! We should never forget His goodness. If we would just reflect on His goodness in our lives and the Scriptures…we would have a whole lot more peace.

At the beginning of this study, I gave you our foundation Scripture Matthew 22:37-38. In it Jesus was telling a lawyer about two commandments. The first was what we have been discussing.

I would like to end this study with the second commandment that Jesus gave in Matthew 22:39; And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as you do yourself.

I don’t know about you…but…that is a very hard thing to do. It is not impossible though. We have to choose to Love.

Other Christians can be very difficult to love…for a variety of reasons that I am sure you are aware of. Yet in the book of John, Jesus tells us why it is important to love each other. John 13:34-35 says; I give you a new commandment; that you should love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another. By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you love one another [If you keep on showing love among yourselves].

Jesus doesn’t just mean our brothers and sisters in the Lord…He means our enemies too. In Matthew 5:44 Jesus said, …Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. But wait…He goes even further in Luke 6:27-28; But I say to you who are listening now to me: Make it a practice to love your enemies, treat well (do good to, act nobly toward) those who detest you and pursue you with hatred. Invoke blessings upon and pray for the happiness of those who curse you, implore God’s favor upon those who abuse you and misuse you.

WHEW…those are some pretty strong words. This is no easy task. Let’s go deeper…

WHAT IS LOVE?

I’m sure you’ve heard it and/or read it…

I Corinthians 13:4-8 – Love endures long and is patient and kind; love is never envious nor boils over with jealousy, it is not boastful and does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited; it is not rude and does not act unbecomingly. Love (GOD’S LOVE IN US) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. Love never fails…

There really isn’t anything more I can add. God has explained “what” love is thoroughly. The next question would be…how?

HOW DO WE LOVE?

In part one of this study we learned that the Scriptures tell us that if we love God…we will keep His commandments. Well, this is one of His commandments. Obviously, we don’t just snap our fingers and suddenly have the kind of love described in I Corinthians. It comes gradually over time as we study and learn His Word (His ways). The Word says that God is Love in I John 4:16. So, if we pour enough of God into our lives and spirits…we will automatically love more like He loves. It is what naturally happens as we submit our lives to Him and His will. We grow the “fruit” of love.

We cannot beat ourselves up when we fail. The enemy would love that. We must press on. Make it a point to read I Corinthians 13 as often as you can. Get it in you. And PRAY!

Note: All Scripture was taken from the Amplified Translation.

THE NURSING HOME MINISTRY

Isaiah 61:1: “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath annointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he had sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;”

About a year after I was called by God to preach, a door of opportunity opened up for me to preach at a local nursing home. As I walked down the hall to the chapel area, my eyes were filled with tears of compassion for the condition of the folks I encountered. Over the next few years, the Lord opened doors in nursing homes in several surrounding cities whre I ministered for a season. Yet, this first nursing home I preached at was to remain part of my ministry for fifteen years.

One thing about nursing homes is that the folks come just as they are. Some in wheelchairs, some on walkers, some walking or being pushed in wheelchairs by another resident. It was a supreme effort for many to be at a church service and the Lord looked with favor upon our times together. I had to be the choir director, the Sunday School teacher, the special singer, and the preacher. The Lord surely taught me many things during this ministry.

We never took an offering, yet one particular lady would always present me with something. It might be a penny, a soda cracker, a piece of candy, or a coupon for something. She had a nervous breakdown when her Mama ran off with her husband. This special lady had been well-educated, she could speak Greek, could play the piano, and sing fairly well. She would always dress in her choir robe when she came to the service. I believe the Lord has a special place in Heaven for folks like her.

Brother Dixon would be at the front waiting on me to arrive. He couldn’t or wouldn’t talk but when the songs were being sung, he’d sing right along with everyone else. His favorite was “Amazing Grace”. When I would preach and state a truth, he would shout “Amen” and “Right about that!” Other than that, he wouldn’t carry on a conversation. HIs job was to carry my Bible to the chapel. When he saw me, he would give out a great big smile and reach for the Word. He would lay it in his lap and I would roll his wheelchair to this spot. He always wanted to be right in the front. The “Amen corner” I called it. He’s been in Heaven for some time now but his faithfulness, despite his handicaps, remains with me forever. He was an inspiration.

Charlie was a cripple with a severe speech impediment. His mind was sharp and he loved the Lord. He especially enjoyed the songs. When I first met him, he was a bit grouchy but over the years, the Lord did a great work in his life. He became a sweet brother in Christ. I got to where I could understand some of his speech. When I would ask those folks to remember my Mama in prayer, tears would roll down his cheeks as I saw his lips move in prayer. He would always ask, “How is your Mama?” One of his favorite songs was “Hallelujah Square”, particularly the verse, “I’ll see all my friends in Hallelujah Square, what a wonderful time we’ll all have up there, we’ll sing and praise Jesus his glory to share and there won’t be a cripple in Hallelujah Square.” He knew one day he would be made whole and would be free from his crippled body. Last year, 2002, the Lord called him home. I had the special mission of preaching at his funeral. He was a dear friend and I’ll see him again one day.

Over the years of the nursing home ministry, I’ve seen many come and go. Not all died, some recovered and went back home. Some were transferred to other facilities.

Many of these precious people had a really close relationship to the Lord. Their hardships had made them draw near to the Lord and exercised their faith. I’m glad those people prayed for me.

Isaiah 61:3: “To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.”

The Apolitic Nature of Revelations pt 2.

The Apolitic Nature of The Revelations pt 2.
Lets look a Rev. 1:1 a little closer. There are four diferent things being said in this one verse.
1.”The Revelation of Jesus Christ.” This phrase is a continuance of what Jesus had told us in Mar 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
2. “which God gave unto him” The Revelation was given to Jesus by His Father.[God] Joh 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
3.”to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass;” This phrase incompasses the entire prophecy of Revelations.
4.”sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:”The book is in a series of parallel groups, not in chronological succession.
The Angel spoken of here is Jesus as the Christ. Rev 1:13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. Rev 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: Rev 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
Satan on the other hand is know as the anointed cherub. [Eze 28:14-19 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.]
3. Will the events of Revelations actually happen and Why ?
Mat 24:3-8; And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. [Ref; Dan_12:11, Dan_12:12, Dan_7:25, Dan_8:14, Dan_11:13, Dan_7:24-28.]The holy city is trodden by the Gentiles forty-two months (Rev_11:2), so the exercise of the power of the beast (Rev_13:5). The two witnesses preach in sackcloth 1260 days, and remained unburied three days and a half.
So then, Will the events of Revelations actually happen ? Yes. But Jesus said that, “All these are the beginning of sorrows.” Speaking of the sign of the times prior to the rapture of the Church.
3a.Why ? Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Act 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Rev 2:16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. Rev 2:21-22; And I gave her space to repent of her fornication(The Great Whore); and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her(Nations of the Earth) into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. Rev 9:21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts. The answer to why is easy. Mankind has gotten to the point that life has very little meaning to them. Lust and greed and fornication and all manner of evil deads are always on their mind.
You cant go a day without hearing of one of the sins mentioned in Revelations{ For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, sorceries, fornication, adulteries, false witness, blasphemies, thefts, ect.} nor of the signs{famines, and pestilences, earthquakes, Wars, Rumours of Wars, Father agains Son, false Christs, false prophets, signs and wonders, seducers, Days will shorten, blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke, The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, ect} Jesus spoke of on the coming of the end.[ Isa_13:9, Isa_13:15, Isa_24:23; Jer_4:23; Amo_8:9; Mat_24:29, Mat_27:45; Mar_13:24; Luk_21:25; 2Pe_3:7, 2Pe_3:10; Rev_6:12, Rev_16:8, Isa_2:12-21, Isa_34:8; Joe_2:1, Joe_3:14; Zep_2:2, Zep_2:3; Mal_4:5; 1Co_5:5; 1Th_5:2; 2Pe_3:10]
4. Is The Anti-Christ a Man or Religion ? 1Jo 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. 1Jo 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 1Jo 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 2Jo 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. These are the only 4 verses in the entire Bible that mention the word Anti-Christ. This name has been applied to the “little horn” of the “king of fierce countenance” (Dan_7:24, Dan_7:25; Dan_8:23-25). (2.) It has been applied also to the “false Christs” spoken of by our Lord (Mat_24:5, Mat_24:23, Mat_24:24). (3.) To the “man of sin” described by Paul (2Th_2:3, 2Th_2:4, 2Th_2:8-10). (4.) And to the “beast from the sea” (Rev_13:1; 17:1-18). (Rev_13:11). The number 666 given to the Beast (Rev_13:18), [Ref; Rev_13:14, Rev_16:2, Rev_16:5, Rev_17:6, Rev_17:14, Rev_17:17, Rev_18:20,Rev_18:24, Rev_19:20, Rev_20:4; Dan_7:20,Dan_7:25]
So, is The Anti-Christ a Man or Religion ?
Both. The anti-christ is a man, not a man that has been resurrected. The anti-christ is also a religion, a spirit a consuming force that will ruel the world for a short period of time. Many Christians are being consumed by when the end will come but should rather be vigilant as to the salvation of themselves{Making their calling and election sure.} and others. There is no one that knows when. If any man states that he knows the when, walk away from him. Catholicism and Muhammadanism are the greatest two religions that most Theologians believe could be the ,”One World Religion.” that is taken over by the anti-christ, using it to ruel over mankind.
Judaism and Christianity are the two that he will try to destroy because Judaism will eventually lead to Christianity. The conversion of the Jews to Jesus. Sometimes Faith is believing in things that you don’t see to understand the things that you do see. end pt. 2.

Spiritual Gifts

I was minding my own business, the other day, or at least, I think I was … just getting a few chores done. I’m not sure if I was listening to a Christian radio broadcast or not, or what else would have even prompted this thinking. But, this verse came to mind … love one another, as I have loved you. John 15:12.

I already knew however God has loved us is the way He wants us to love and that doing so is our way of thanking Him for how He has loved us.

Though, the thought came to mind that, except for the ways God has loved us, it is impossible for us to know how to love. I think I already knew that. However, somehow, the word ‘impossible’ stood out and, suddenly, it dawned on me …

If it is impossible to love, other than how God has loved us (and that does seem logical, as love is who God is) that would also mean that (in the area of Spiritual gifts) we would have first had to receive a Spiritual gift before we would have the ability to share that gift with others.

And, I thought, duh! Will we never be done learning that we don’t know as much about God as we think we do?

Then, God showed me this verse. As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God, I Peter 4:10. And, right there it is, in black and white! You aren’t just given a gift. You actually have to receive one and with it comes the ability to give it again.

So, that tells me that, in order to have the gift of miracles, for example, you would have first had to receive the gift of miracles. And, if you have received a miracle, you have the gift of miracles ~ whether you know it or not.

Many of us have likely taken Spiritual Gifts Discovery Tests in attempt to determine our Spiritual gifts. But, this is a sure test in which we can ‘know’ our gifts and is also a measure by which we can determine if we are being good stewards, using those gifts, or not.

So, you just might want to think about it. You could have abilities you haven’t yet discovered!

Scriptural Prayer for Guidance

Dear Lord,

1. We lack wisdom. We ask you for wisdom, knowing you will give it to us generously. (James 1:5)

2. Teach us your ways, that we may walk in your paths. (Isaiah 2:3)

3. Instruct us and teach us in the way we should go. Counsel us and watch over us. (Psalm 32:8)

4. No matter which way we turn, cause us to hear your voice saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” (Isaiah 30:21)

Why Garfield from Kyrgyzstan Visits Chamonix France

Chamonix Mont Blanc is a stunning holiday destination with the legendary Mont Blanc and jagged glaciers. All of us like to go telemarking or even sightseeing. I sometimes catch a plane from Bishop and stay at a Chamonix lodge for the duration of my holiday.

My friends and I used to visited Courtyard by Marriott Santo Domingo Downtown however it rarely met the standards of its description: Courtyard by Marriott Santo Domingo Downtown is in central Santo Domingo, walking distance to the National Theater, and approximately 13 miles from Las Americas International Airport. Local attractions include La Atarazana, Mercado Modelo, Amber Museum, Boca Chica Beach, First Cathedral of the Americas, Columbus Lighthouse, and Los Tres Ojos National Park. Hotel amenities include the gift shop, lobby bar, fitness room, 24-hour business center, outdoor pool, and the Courtyard Cafe restaurant. The hotel also offers valet laundry service, dinner delivery service from local restaurants, and complimentary parking.

However in Chamonix village the lodge is always exceptional. Also dining out in our favorite hotel restaurant, Atavola, munching hawaiian macadamia nut cake is a treat. Chamonix Mont Blanc France is a big enough destination to insure that there is lots of things for the non-skier to do. Amongst other things it includes a cross country skiing track and a plethora of shops, Chamonix provides a choice of climbing, old town charm and shopping which not many French ski resorts can beat.

Prophecies of The End Times

Prophecies of The End Times
by David Nelmes

(3/15/2005)

Revelations 6:9 – 11 (KJV)

9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the alter the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

11 And white robes were given unto every one of them…

David Nelmes
If the spirit of God is in any part of you, you will not want to become thirsty for blood and vengeance and you would neither request nor expect God to agree with you about having earned the right to kill other people. If the spirit of God is in any part of you, you will not want to judge, but will want to embrace love and forgiveness. If the spirit of God is in any part of you, you will always and forever want what is best for the earth and all who exist there.

Prophecies of The End Times are not from God and he is not looking to destroy the world and punish us. Absolute love casts out all fear...so God cannot be Love and then do things that create fear. The spirit of God is in every part of you. If you open your heart to hear his voice, you will see that the verse above, and thousands of similar verses, have nothing to do with the loving and forgiving God that is part of you. You can find his love and forgiveness and really feel it…deep, deep inside that part of you that has never totally forgotten the goodness of our creator.

How can the same God, the same Jesus, who looked upon his attackers while hanging from the cross, feel such compassion and forgiveness for those people and then later desire to kill them? Only a god that can change and only a god that reacts the way man does, could act this way. Only a god without the capacity to forgive can be this way…and that god is not the God that was part of Jesus, but a god made by man and embellished by stories of self-rightousness aimed to control by fear through the threat of punishment and death.

If it was my destiny to die for the sake of spreading Gods word, and then after dyeing, if I were to cry out for vengeance and the death of my attackers, then it would be very clear that I never understood the word of God in the first place. Love and forgiveness is not temporary or set aside here and there to accomplish ungodly things. In the Book of Revelation, John’s vision of these angry martyrs only represents his own anger and feelings of the revenge he wanted and this has nothing to do with anything God would ever fathom to pursue. It’s what he felt was his right to demand upon God for having lived self-righteously and having sacrificed. The reality is that God does not require nor demand these things from us and therefore there is no real grounds for having a right to punish those who did not follow any of the rules and regulations created and interpreted by man.

The Book of Revelation may possibly be based upon John having actually seen some future events, just like Nostradamus or any other psychic…but his perception of what these events were, what they meant and the spirit in which God was involved…these are all clearly John’s own personal gloom and doom depictions of who he felt God was and how he felt God would interact and how he felt man should be punished. There is no New Testament forgiveness here, but only the Old Testament’s angry, vengeful and unforgiving god. The Book of Revelations has nothing to do with God.

As with John, many may wish to push their version of God upon us and will march on the capital city with posters and chants to end abortion…while also having accepted the concept that God should kill all non believers in a bloody massacre at the end of times. The pursuit of life or death cannot be placed on the same plate. Only one is true…the other is not. Your god is either a god that cherishes life or a god that destroys life…he cannot be both because his own words indicate that a house divided against itself cannot stand. None of this adds up in religions eyes which is why religion does not work, because God is a God of love and not of fear and death. Man has added the stories and perceptions of fear and death to attract and control by fear, but that has nothing to do with who God is.

Many who are followers of the end times are anxiously waiting for the tragic events of the Book of Revelations to unfold… so can it also be said that they are the looking forward to people being tortured and killed? Their desired future of Gods kingdom on earth depends upon it. Jesus said is was just as sinful to have lusted after your neighbors wife as is was to have actually been with her. By the same token, would it be just as sinful to desire and condone the mass murder of all non-believers as to having performed the mass murder of millions yourself?

My thought is this…if God is such an angry and vengeful entity, why would anyone want to be with him? This explains, of course, why he has to threaten us to force us to obey him and love him and worship him. Doesn’t any of this sound like a story of Zeus gone bad with hints of a modern day dictatorship? Even within your own lives, haven’t we all learned that love is only really worth it when it is given freely and unconditionally…and without threat of repercussion? Have we somehow surpassed Gods own capacity to understand love…or has our past so terribly misinterpreted and underestimated Gods capacity to love and we are only now just starting to fathom how much more glorious, beautiful, peaceful and loving he is?

If God is not behind the tragic events of the day, what then is responsible for the worlds condition? We are. On so many levels, both spiritual and physical, we have created and continue to support the hostile man-made and natural environments that exists here. We have accepted, eerily enjoy and also look forward to both man-made and natural tragic events. These events serve to both justify our religious positions and to provide entertainment in predicting them and watching then again afterwards. Even though it is often not apparent, we are very powerful spiritual beings. We have, are, and will continue to manifest things upon this earth based upon what we think we want…regardless of the pain and suffering that comes along with it. When we stop accepting tragedies as inevitable and stop desiring they occur to justify our beliefs and provide entertainment, they will stop…in just the same way Jesus stopped the storm. Jesus saw the storm as neither necessary nor desirable and it simply ceased to exist.

There may be evil and misguided actions performed by people in the world, but still at the heart of most men is a genuine desire to help and be helpful, to love and be loved. We confuse our emotions and our abilities at times…leading to hostilities and misunderstandings, but overall we would rather have peace. Even though it’s not immediately helpful, most of our fighting is because we believe it’s a necessary step towards achieving peace. Granted, we might not have figured out how to achieve peace…but it’s still what we truly want and we will continue to work with it until we finally figure it out in the ages to come.

Think for a moment about recent stories of the kindness, love, and compassion that the worlds people demonstrate, especially after tragedies when our needs are greatest. If man has this capacity and desire to help…if man has this capacity for compassion…if man has this capacity for forgiveness…if man has this capacity for kindness…if man has this capacity for good…if man has this capacity to choose love over hate, how much more do you think our Father…our Creator has the capacity to do these things? Other than what centuries old beliefs have told you, can you see in yourself today, the light that is a real part of God and can you see that this light can not and will not ever, ever pursue anything other than love and peace. Anything that says otherwise or does otherwise is not in line with the desires of God.

Prophecies of The End Times are not from God. God is not looking to destroy the world and punish us. God would never do anything to evoke fear. Absolute love casts out all fear…so God cannot be Love and then do things that would create fear. Those two concepts cannot exist at the same time. These view points come from a total misunderstanding of God as being vengeful and angry as opposed to being loving and forgiving. So many of the things written about God, especially the things that are centuries upon centuries old, were written from a frightened and limited perspective. It’s time to let go of these primitive beliefs and start seeing God as the loving and forgiving god he really is.

History sometimes has a tendency to repeat itself because there are lessons we still need to learn and certain events will occur again and again until we choose to see things differently and change what we are being and doing. The concept that Jesus will return to establish a worldly kingdom has already come and gone. The ancient belief was that Jesus, the Messiah, would come to establish a new government…and when he made it apparent that it was not his mission to create a physical world government…everything changed and he was killed. Today, again many are waiting for Jesus to come and create an earthly kingdom, a primary purpose of the existence of the Book of Revelation, and it’s not going to happen because his mission is a spiritual one, not a physical one. Because we often forget we are spiritual beings temporarily interacting here, we often confuse Gods goals and desires for us as being physical, and they are not. Gods goals and desires for us are spiritual and they have nothing to do with anything physical.

Spiritual things are eternal…physical things are not. God is eternal…he created us eternal and he, Jesus and the Holy Spirit will continue to work with us for ages and ages to come until we also choose once again to only pursue the eternal and then to forever leave this physical place where everything dies and nothing is eternal. God didn’t create this mess we are in, so he’s not going to do anything to extend the time we are here, but is doing everything possible to give us the tools to shorten our time here and finally come home to him.

Meanwhile, due to the concept of the end times and the world being destroyed, many lives are possibly being wasted and tormented with thoughts of no future and thoughts of pending wars and tribulations…all leading up to living in a state of fear which is totally out of line with Gods desire that each day be peaceful, joyful, forgiving and loving…with no regrets from the day before and no apprehensions of tomorrow to mess up your today.

Know this…God is not unaware of you. God loves you beyond anything ever imagined. God is waiting patiently for your heart to be open to walk through life without fear…and then you will truly hear him and feel his guidance. While you are motivated by fear and subjecting others to fear, it’s difficult for you to properly interpret what God is saying. For you, as with John, God never stops communicating and never stops telling you things that will help your growth, but any and all fear you embrace will blur and taint what you are hearing, making it difficult to see Gods true desires clearly. Under these circumstance, you may think you have a world of truth, but all you will have is a word of truth surrounded by fear, to be delivered through fear, accepted with fear and followed because of fear. Set aside fear and don’t accept anything that even hints at it and you will be open for rivers of truth to flow into your being.

Live this…Since God is love, simply ignore the stories, perceptions and rumors created and spread through fear, because they are not from God. God is working with everyone at all times, so just be patient while you and the people of the world work through being fearful and be happy to know that God has not forgotten a single one. Pray that we all open our minds more and more each day to hear God’s truth and set aside man-made truths. Just rest in peace to know that God is patiently working with everybody. Extend your love and peace as well and our time here will be shortened…not with end times of death and destruction and the creation of Gods physical kingdom on earth, but with end times of everybody simply leaving this place and returning to an eternal existence with our creator in his spiritual kingdom that always has and always will be.

Make a Decision

Is your attitude, “I am a king’s kid and I deserve the best?” It should be, because you are a king’s kid. If you’re born again, you were adopted into the family of Christ and are now joint-heirs to the kingdom of God. What is His, is yours as well (Rom 8:17, Gal 3:29).

Let me ask you, are you living from paycheck to paycheck? Do you have unpaid bills lying around? Do you have bald tires on your car? These things ought not to be. Determine, right now, that you will not settle for this any longer! Insist that you will not live like a dog, settling for the crumbs that fall from the table. Pull up your chair to the table and feast with the king.

You are a child of the Most High God, set apart and made holy by the blood of the Lamb. Do not accept what the enemy wants for you, which is only pain and misery. Remember, greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4). You have authority over all the power of the enemy, in Jesus name, and nothing shall by any means harm you (Luke 10:19).

Jesus died that we would have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). He did His part. Now let’s do our part. “What is our part?,” you may ask. Jesus said to only believe. All things are possible to him who believes (Mark 9:23). Whatsoever things you ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive (Matt 21:22).

Decide, right now! Let a Holy Ghost anger rise up inside of you, make a decision, and stick to it. You won’t see results immediately, but if you are patient, things will begin to turn around in a big way. Just continue to believe despite the circumstances! For he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. Let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord (James 1:6-7).
